Second Terrace has an
entertaining little number (see opiate number 3) on the true sources of cultural numbness, illiteracy, and general lack of reflection. Hint: it's not religion. But for all you moms and dads out there, seeking to minimize the opiates in your child's and your own lives (though "moderation in all things" is a good mantra), this is a good place to get some ideas.

It's an interesting piece...though I would challenge the author to really meditate on the Wedding at Cana and still say that Jesus and his disciples did not have fun. I don't imagine He sat in a corner looking serious (or even joyful) while everyone else was dancing!
And all that wine! Scandalous.
Yeah, the "no fun" Jesus comes across as a rather non-Scriptural Jesus. I think the author meant he didn't rot his brain with multi-media entertainment, rather than he didn't give expression to his joy. I hope. :) "Fun" coming from a desire to escape vs. true fun springing from the joy of the Lord. Two different things?
an excellent distinction, philosopher mom! :)
