the Divine Office for the last days of Advent (the beloved
O Antiphons): It's as if the whole Church had that child's squeal of anticipation, "
He's coming, he's coming, he's coming!"

I agree. It always becomes a bit easier to pray the office in the last week before Christmas. So very much like a child squealing! A great image.
Though I always do struggle during the Octave of Christmas because the psalms are the same every day. Intellectually I get it. It's cool that every day is the same because Christmas is too big a feast to be just one day. But I get bored.
I'm so glad you said that. I get really bored about 4 days into the Christmas and Easter Octaves. At least it makes the return to ordinariness more welcome!
Glad I'm not the only one. Maybe it would be different if one were chanting them in choir?
